A cozy, European style restaurant that serves food from Spain. Not too expensive, but the experience is just wonderful. The food is very good- everything is made in house, and the staff are so friendly. Friendly is an understatement. When you go there, they make you feel like you are an old dear friend visiting from out of town. We ordered combo tapas for our appetizer. This was delicious and unique. The chicken paella was delicious as well, and the blackened salmon was cooked to perfection. We were really too full for dessert, but I have never ordered from a dessert tray before, and the waitress brought one right out. The dessert, served alongside coffee or cappuccino did not disappoint. The owner stopped at our table, and asked if we would like to try some red wine and just left the jug at the table, and then they insisted we try a sample of their apple crisp dessert. The entire time was just wonderful, and I hope others have the same experience.read more

Authentic Spanish food located in Valparaiso. Gazpacho was my App and it was really good. Main dish; Trout which was delicious and a generous portion. Party of 6 ordered a variety of ifems all of which was delicious. Service was good. Owner stopped by more than once and was very appreciative of our business. Oh yeah, the Margarita was excellent, too!

An absolute gem. I couldn't recommend this restaurant more highly. My wife recently return from a vacation to Barcelona and was raving about the food and experience. I saw this place advertised on a road sign between Indy and Chicago and though it'd make for a great opportunity to share some of those positive feelings. We made it out here for our anniversary and it was perfect. We visited on a Saturday night. The place was packed, live music playing on the stage, and all the decor, smells and imports brought her back to Spain. We ordered the tapas combo, some Moorish pork (the lemon that comes on the side helps to add a zing), and squid cooked in it's ink. Everything was cooked to perfection. The squid was especially of note because it's so easy to overcook but here it's was supremely tender and flavorful without being fishy. Do yourself a favor and visit Don Quijote as soon as possible. I didn't get anything to say that, it's just that good.read more

If I could give it more stars I would. The food was excellent! The small plates make it nice to share. Sangria was delicious! Carlos makes you feel like family and greets all his customers with a warm handshake. The wait staff was attentive and pleasant. I am looking forward to returning. Thanks to all for a wonderful time! ♥️

First time dinning at this restaurant and found it delightful. Food and service were great and one thing that struck us was there was a relaxing feeling to the dining experience. As it should be to enjoy the moment.

Highly recommend! Went there not expecting much but was floored by the excellent service and great food. Tapas plates and paella were incredible. Very traditional Spanish cuisine so don't go there thinking it's some version of an Americanized one. Owner even came out to ask how are meals were. Even got a complimentary bottle of wine and shots of port because we were celebrating our anniversary! Will definitely go back!read more

The decor was fun. The octopus was absolutely spectacular although all if the tapas were good. The wine menu was extensive and described wine regions in Spain to assist in your selection. I loved my meal, I'll be back.

The atmosphere was fantastic. They had live music that very much added to the entire experience. We had never been to a Spanish restaurant before but it was everything I would have expected. The food was very good and the waitress was really kind. I noticed a lot of teamwork amongst the staff, which was a definite plus. We will come again when we are in town.read more

This is a spectacular restaurant. If you love tapas and get within 100 miles of Valparaiso you need to stop there for a meal. They have the best grilled octopus I have ever had, anywhere. The chorizo is amazing and the pork delicious. THEN try the flan. Elena does a burnt sugar sauce that is delightful but her family recipe "white cloud" dessert is incredible. It's like a creamy custard meringue. I don't know how else to describe it. Finally, if you are at all interested in Spanish wines, download the wine list. It goes region by region, with maps, and is brilliant. Don Quijote is a gem, read more

I just discovered this place and let me say the food here is awesome, and there's an incredible selection of dishes and an nice atmosphere. The service was friendly and the server was knowledgeable which helped me make good choices. I really liked the Lenguado Frito dish I tried. The bread and appetizers we got were also great. The staff was also friendly, especially the manager who was quite charming and fun to talk to. They also have a neat little shop with Spanish products. I'm definitely hoping to come back in the future.read more

Such a wonderful restaurant. This place has a great atmosphere and truly authentic cuisine. The chef's are Spanish and a lot of their ingredients are imported from Spain. We love the Tapas and are just so thrilled to have this restaurant in our immediate area. It is definitely worth the trip, but you may need to make a reservation as it is a popular place!

“Growing up in Spain, I learned at an early age that cooking is a passion. My father was a chef on a Mediterranean cruise ship while my mother demonstrated the tenacity and integrity of raising 3 children and running the family farm. It was through my parents that I cultivated my passion for family, food and wine.

As with any artistic expression, cooking is an art created from life’s experiences. My Iberian menu was developed through my experiences of growing up in Spain and the 36 years of owning and operating Don Quijote in Valparaiso. It is with great love and passion that I share with you my Spanish cuisine.” - Chef Carlos Rivero
